We are delighted to announce that our Food Drive collection held at Celtic Park in November was once again a major success.
As you will hopefully be aware, our recent food collection was in aid of various food banks across Glasgow. The food was taken directly from the stadium to their storage point, which unfortunately means that we can't have a weight total this year. We do believe we collected more than ever and that it would've been the largest in the country.
However, we can update everyone on the total money raised - an incredible £9307. This is higher than we have ever raised, so a massive thanks to all who donated. As promised, we have given £1,000 to the Lajee Community Centre in Aida Refugee Camp in Bethlehem and this was greatly appreciated by all.
The remaining money has not only been spread among the different corners of Glasgow, but due to the vast amount we managed to help others from further afield - from down in Ayrshire to up in Aberdeen. As a result, 16 different Food Banks have gratefully received a donation that will go a long way in feeding local residents during these tough times. We have been inundated with messages of thanks from the Food Bank volunteers and we would like to pass this gratitude on to the Celtic support who once again came together to help those in need.
Well done all, and thanks once again.
